Why Apo Liverpool offers the city lifestyle I’d been craving

Life in the countryside can be sweet. But if you’re young and ambitious, it can sometimes be… kind of boring.
When Nathan Hulse decided to rent out his countryside home to move to Apo Liverpool, he found the city lifestyle he’d been craving. Here, Nathan shares why he and his girlfriend Carmen are happy they made the move.
What brought you to Apo Liverpool?
“I work in tech for the energy sector and have lived all over the UK. In 2017, I moved back to my roots, buying a three-bedroom house on The Wirral and spent the next few years doing it up. While I loved the house, I’m an outgoing person and found living in the countryside quite isolating. In 2022, I decided to rent out my home and move to Apo Liverpool with my girlfriend, Carmen.
In Liverpool, there are only a couple of premium options that offer the quality of property I wanted. Apo won hands down. Its location – in the heart of the city, right next to the historic dock – is absolutely fantastic. We’ve got everything on our doorstep, from restaurants and bars to the Eco Arena.
Liverpool FC even drove past when they won the league, and my friends and I watched them celebrating from the roof terrace. With its central location, Apo has become the go-to place for my friends and I to meet up before going out. And at the end of the evening, they’re all envious of me because they have to get taxis and trains home.”
What do you like about living here?
“I initially had slight concerns about moving from a large house to a one-bedroom apartment, fearing it might be restrictive. However, this has not been the case at all thanks to the various communal spaces which are included in my rent.
I often work remotely, and being able to use one of the onsite workspaces is great – I feel like I’m commuting even though I’m only going downstairs a couple of floors. There are also other tech people living here, so it’s a good place to network and share ideas. And at the end of a day’s work, I love being able to use the onsite gym.
At Apo, residents can hire selected communal spaces for parties. As my flat can’t accommodate too many people, for my last birthday, the team arranged an area for me and some friends to celebrate with a few beers before going out – which was brilliant!”
How has your quality of life improved since moving in?
“There’s a brilliant sense of community at Apo Liverpool and I’ve enjoyed getting to know members of the team. They’re great and the little details, like asking about your holiday when you get back, show they really pay attention to residents.
They also run a number of events throughout the year, such as for Christmas, Halloween and pancake day. In my old home, these events would have passed me by, but here I get to celebrate. This makes it a really special place to live.
The Apo homes are also modern and, as I went for an unfurnished apartment, I’ve been able to make it feel like home. I love not having to deal with maintenance issues like when my kitchen hob broke.
In my old home, I’d have had to spend time and money sorting it all out myself. But at Apo, I alerted the team first thing in the morning and, after a day working on the roof terrace, I came home to find they’d already replaced it – and you wouldn’t even know they’d been there.
I have no intention of moving anytime soon. I love my home, its location and the community – and regularly think, ‘How great is this?’”
